Topsail Ends Panthers Playoff Run
The Topsail Pirates downed the Orange High Panthers 7-0 in the 4th round of the NCHSAA state playoffs.  The Panthers finish the season 21-7.  It is the 4th straight 20-win season for the Panthers.  Congratulations on a great season.  Thanks to the players, parents and fans.
 
 
 
 

 
Orange Moves on to Round 4 with Win over South Johnston
Bryse Wilson pitched 7 innings allowing 3 runs on 7 hits and striking out 13.  Wilson improved to 10-2 on the season.  Wilson also drove in 2 runs going 2-4.  Austin Sykes had a key hit and drove 2 runs in the Panthers 6-3 win.  Chandler Compton had 2 RBI as well.  Cameron Mehl was 2-3 and scored 2 runs.  Jason Slaughter was 2-3.  Orange (21-6) will face Topsail HS in the 4th round at Orange.
 
 
 

 
 
Orange 8      Hunt 5
Panthers advance to the 3rd round of the state playoffs with a win over the Hunt Warriors.  Brad Debo was 2-4 with a triple and a homerun collecting 3 RBI.  Bryse Wilson, Cole Campanile and Johnny Flynn each drove in a critical runs and the Panthers clawed back from a 5-2 deficit.  Landon Riley came on in relief to get the win pitching 1 1/3 innings.  Bryse Wilson entered the game on the 4th inning to earn a 4-inning save and striking out 8.  Orange improves to 20-6 and advances to the third round of the state playoffs.  The Panthers will host South Johnston Tuesday at 7:00
 
 

 
 
Bryse Wilson Pitches a Perfect Game in Round 1 of the Playoffs
Bryse Wilson struckout 6 and hurled a perfect game against Eastern Wayne as the Panthers won 2-0.  The Warriors were a very tough opponent fro the #5 seeded Panthers.  Knotted at 0-0 in the 5th inning senior Cameron Mehl delivered a 2-out double that scored 2 Panther runs.  Wilson took over from there. Orange advances to face Wilson Hunt HS on Saturday May 14, 5:00 at Orange.

Orange Defeats Northern Vance in the First Round of the Big 8 Tourney.
The Panthers offense erupted for 10 runs on 12 hits to take down the Vikings 10-0 in 5 innings.  Chandler Compton had 3 hits.  Jason Slaughter had 2 hits and 3 RBI and Brad Debo had 2 hits and 2 RBI.  Jamiel Jordan had 2 hits and 1 RBI.  Bryse Wilson improved to 8-2 allowing only 2 hits and striking out 9. 
 
 
 
 
Orange Sweeps Regular Season Series with Cedar Ridge
 On Tuseday the Orange Panthers baseball team defeated the Red Wolves 7-0 at Cedar Ridge.  Bryse Wilson gave up 3 hits and struckout 12 in the complete game shutout.  Austin Sykes, Brad Debo, Cole Campanile and Cameron Mehl each had 2 hits.  Sykes also drove in 2 runs with a pair of doubles.  Jamiel Jordan also drove in 2 runs.
 
 
On Thursday the Panthers defeated Cedar Ridge 12-2. Landon Riley pitched 4 innings and struckout 5 to earn the win.  Bryse Wilson had a grand slam and Brad Debo knocked in 5 runs with a home run and a sacrifice fly. Austin Sykes had 2 hits and 1 RBI.  Orange clinched the Big 8 Coneference championship with the win.

The Gibbons Crusaders defeated the Panthers 11-0 in a midweek game in Raleigh.  Orange only managed 4 hits.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
J F Webb Defeats Panthers 8-7 in 8 Innings
Orange and Webb combined for 23 hits as the Warriors prevailed in the bottom of the 8th on a game winning single.  Austin Sykes was 3-3 with 2 RBI and Jamiel Jordan 2-3 with 2 RBI.  
 
 
 
 

Panthers Down the Northwood Chargers Twice 2-1 and 12-8
On Wednesday Bryse Wilson pitched a complete game allowing only 2 hits and striking out 11 as the Panthers rallied for the win.  Northwood plated its only run in the first inning on 2 hits.  Wilson pitched lights-out from the 2nd inning as only one Charger reached base on a throwing error.  Cameron Mehl had a RBI single to tie the game in the 5th and Wilson scored the go ahead run on a wild pitch in the 6th.
 
Friday's game 2 was full of offense as both teams totaled 20 runs on 21 hits. The Panthers were led on offense by Brad Debo (2-4, 2 R, RBI), Chandler Compton 2-4 3 RBI, Ryan Puckett 1-3 2 RBI, and Cole Campanile 1-3 3B RBI.  Derek Lindaman, Landon Riley and Eli Haithcock pitched for the Panthers.
Orange is now 14-4 and 7-1 in the Big 8 Coneference.
 
 
 

Orange 4    Chapel Hill 3
 Junior Derek Lindaman pitched 6 innings, striking out 5, as the Panthers topped the Tigers to split the season series.  SR Landon Riley came in to pitch the 7th inning to earn the save.  Bryse Wilson knocked in the GWRBI in the 6th inning with a bases loaded single.  Cameron Mehl had 3 hits and a RBI.  Jason Slaughter had 2 hits and a RBI.  The Panthers are 5-1 in the Big 8 Conference standings and 12-4 overall. 
 
 
 
 
 

Panthers Downed 1-0 in Mid-week Game vs. Holly Springs
Sophomore Brian Werden pitched 4 good innings against the Golden Hawks but Orange was unable to push any runs across the plate.  Jr. Dylan Hall led the Panthers with 2 hits. 

Chapel Hill 3    Orange 2
 The Orange Panthers dropped their first Big 8 conference game to Chapel Hill Tuesday night.  Bryse Wilson (4-2) started for Orange allowing 2 earned runs on 5 hits and striking-out 11.  Cameron Mehl and Chandler Compton had RBI singles to account for the two Orange runs.  The Panthers have a non-conference game with Holly Springs on Wednesday before taking on the Tigers again on Friday.
 
 
 

Panthers Go 1-2 in the Hilltop Tournament
The varsity baseball team lost a close game 3-2 to First Colonial High School in round 1 of the tournament.  First Colonial, a 6A team from Virginia Beach VA, capitalized on two Orange miscues for two late runs.  In round 2 Orange defeated Asheville Erwin 6-4.  Kernersville Glenn defeated the Panthers in 8-2 on Saturday, day 3.

The Panthers played solid defense and had a solid pitching performance from Brian Werden (2-0) to improve to 9-0 and 3-0 in the Big 8 Conference. Cole Campanile had 2 doubles and a RBI.  Brad Debo went 2-3 with a 2B and 2 RBI.  Cameron Mehl and Jaydin Poteat each went 1-2 with 2 RBI. 
 
 
 
 

Orange with Big Win Over Northern Vance
The Panthers went up early on the Northern Vance 3-0 but Vikings fought back to tie the score in the sixith inning.  The Panthers scored two runs in the bottom on the 6th to go up 6-4.  Derek Lindaman pitched 5 innings but got a no-decision, allowing 3 runs on 3 hits, striking-out 8 and walking 1.  Eli Haithcock pitched the 6th and 7th innings to get win, stiking out 4.  Brad Debo had a single, double and triple to lead the offense.  Bryse Wilson, Chandler Compton and Jaydin Poteat had 2 hits each.  Compton, Debo, Wilson, Cole Campanile and Cameron Mehl had RBI.  The Panthers move to 7-0 and 2-0 in the Big 8 Conference.
 
 
 

Orange 3     Garner 1
The Panthers defeated the Garner Trojans 3-1 on Wednesday in a non-conference match-up.  Sophomore Brian Werden pitched 4 innings to pick up his first varsity win.  Nick Sutton gave Orange two innings holding Garner scoreless.  Jamiel Jordan pitched the top of the 7th for his first save.  Chandler Compton belted out 2 hits and Jason Slaughter knocked in two crucial runs for the Panthers.
 
 
 
 
 

Wilson Tosses No-Hitter
Bryse Wilson had a 11 strike-out, no-hit performance Tuesday at Northern Vance.  Orange jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on a 2-run homer by Brad Debo in the first inning.  That's all Wilson would need as he a escaped a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the first.  He found a groove and kept the Vikings at bay for the next 6 innings. Cameron Mehl also added an RBI single to help the Panthers.  Orange improved to 5-0 and 1-0 in the Big 8 Conference.
 
 

Panthers Survive Cavalier Comeback 12-10
On Saturday the Orange baseball team jumped out to a 10-0 lead at Southern Lee in Sanford. Each team banged out 14 hits as the Panthers held on but scoring late runs.  Derek Lindaman started for Orange and got the win and Ryan Puckett closed the game out with shutout 2 innings for his first save.  Chandler Compton was 2-4 with 2 doubles and a RBI. Cameron Mehl was 2-4 2 RBI, Jason Slaughter 2-2 2b RBI, Brad Debo 2-3, Austin Sykes 2-4 RBI and Landon Riley 1-1 RBI.
 
 
 

Orange 2     East Chapel Hill 0
 The varsity baseball team defeated East Chapel Hill in a tight well-pitched game on Wednesday, March 9.  The Panthers' Bryse Wilson squared off against Wildcat senior Sean Moore. Wilson took a no-hitter into the 7th inning, but lost the no-hit bid on an infield single.  Wilson struckout 12.  Austin Sykes had a key RBI double for Orange. 
 
 
 
 
 
 

Panthers Rally for a 11-9 Win at Northern Durham
Down 9-3 going into the 6th inning, Orange scored 5 runs in the 6th and 3 runs in the 7th to complete a comeback against a very good Northern Knights team. Northern homered 3 times against the Panthers including a grand slam in the 3rd. Ryan Puckett recorded the final 6 outs to pick up his first career varsity win on the mound. Cameron Mehl led the Panther offense going 3-5 with 2 RBI.  Chandler Compton sparked the rally with a hit and 2 key RBI in the late innings. The Panthers improve to 2-0.  Orange will be at home Wednesday March 9 vs. East Chapel Hill at 5:00.

Panthers 5    Leesville Rd. 1
The Orange baseball team won its' season opener Wednesday over The Pride.  Bryse Wison pitched 6 solid innings for the win, allowing 3 hits and striking out 8.  Eli Haithcock came on the pitch a scoreless 7th for the Panthers. Offensively Orange was led by Wilson, Brad Debo and Cameron Mehl who each had 2 hits on the day.  Debo had a double and a homerun while collecting 2 RBI.  The Panthers travel to Northern Durham on Friday to take on the Knights at 5:00.
 
 
 

2016 Orange Varsity Baseball Schedule Released
The Panthers' baseball team will face a formidable schedule this upcoming season. The Big 8 Conference will be challenging with Northwood, Cedar Ridge, Chapel Hill, Webb, Northern Vance and Southern Durham. Once again the Big 8 will play back-to-back series games each week.  The non-conference schedule will include 4A powers Holly Springs, Leesville Road, Garner, Cardinal Gibbons, Northern Durham, East Chapel Hill.  The Panthers will also travel to Southern Lee for a Varsity/Junior Varsity doubleheader on Saturday March 12.  Orange will also co-host the Hilltop Tournament this year with 18 teams participating.  " I thought we played a good schedule last year, but this schedule is as tough as I can remember. It should prepare us for the post-season. We will face very good teams with quality pitching and offense." says Coach Dease.
