Topsail Ends Panthers Playoff Run
The Topsail Pirates downed the Orange High Panthers 7-0 in the 4th round of the NCHSAA state playoffs.  The Panthers finish the season 21-7.  It is the 4th straight 20-win season for the Panthers.  Congratulations on a great season.  Thanks to the players, parents and fans.

Orange Moves on to Round 4 with Win over South Johnston
Bryse Wilson pitched 7 innings allowing 3 runs on 7 hits and striking out 13.  Wilson improved to 10-2 on the season.  Wilson also drove in 2 runs going 2-4.  Austin Sykes had a key hit and drove 2 runs in the Panthers 6-3 win.  Chandler Compton had 2 RBI as well.  Cameron Mehl was 2-3 and scored 2 runs.  Jason Slaughter was 2-3.  Orange (21-6) will face Topsail HS in the 4th round at Orange.

Orange 8      Hunt 5
Panthers advance to the 3rd round of the state playoffs with a win over the Hunt Warriors.  Brad Debo was 2-4 with a triple and a homerun collecting 3 RBI.  Bryse Wilson, Cole Campanile and Johnny Flynn each drove in a critical runs and the Panthers clawed back from a 5-2 deficit.  Landon Riley came on in relief to get the win pitching 1 1/3 innings.  Bryse Wilson entered the game on the 4th inning to earn a 4-inning save and striking out 8.  Orange improves to 20-6 and advances to the third round of the state playoffs.  The Panthers will host South Johnston Tuesday at 7:00

Bryse Wilson Pitches a Perfect Game in Round 1 of the Playoffs
Bryse Wilson struckout 6 and hurled a perfect game against Eastern Wayne as the Panthers won 2-0.  The Warriors were a very tough opponent fro the #5 seeded Panthers.  Knotted at 0-0 in the 5th inning senior Cameron Mehl delivered a 2-out double that scored 2 Panther runs.  Wilson took over from there. Orange advances to face Wilson Hunt HS on Saturday May 14, 5:00 at Orange.

Big 8 Tournament Semifinals and Finals Rained Out 
Orange Defeats Northern Vance in the First Round of the Big 8 Tourney.
The Panthers offense erupted for 10 runs on 12 hits to take down the Vikings 10-0 in 5 innings.  Chandler Compton had 3 hits.  Jason Slaughter had 2 hits and 3 RBI and Brad Debo had 2 hits and 2 RBI.  Jamiel Jordan had 2 hits and 1 RBI.  Bryse Wilson improved to 8-2 allowing only 2 hits and striking out 9. 
Orange Sweeps Regular Season Series with Cedar Ridge
 On Tuseday the Orange Panthers baseball team defeated the Red Wolves 7-0 at Cedar Ridge.  Bryse Wilson gave up 3 hits and struckout 12 in the complete game shutout.  Austin Sykes, Brad Debo, Cole Campanile and Cameron Mehl each had 2 hits.  Sykes also drove in 2 runs with a pair of doubles.  Jamiel Jordan also drove in 2 runs.
On Thursday the Panthers defeated Cedar Ridge 12-2. Landon Riley pitched 4 innings and struckout 5 to earn the win.  Bryse Wilson had a grand slam and Brad Debo knocked in 5 runs with a home run and a sacrifice fly. Austin Sykes had 2 hits and 1 RBI.  Orange clinched the Big 8 Coneference championship with the win.

Cardinals Gibbons Blast Panthers in Non-conference Tilt
The Gibbons Crusaders defeated the Panthers 11-0 in a midweek game in Raleigh.  Orange only managed 4 hits.
J F Webb Defeats Panthers 8-7 in 8 Innings
Orange and Webb combined for 23 hits as the Warriors prevailed in the bottom of the 8th on a game winning single.  Austin Sykes was 3-3 with 2 RBI and Jamiel Jordan 2-3 with 2 RBI.  

Panthers Down the Northwood Chargers Twice 2-1 and 12-8
On Wednesday Bryse Wilson pitched a complete game allowing only 2 hits and striking out 11 as the Panthers rallied for the win.  Northwood plated its only run in the first inning on 2 hits.  Wilson pitched lights-out from the 2nd inning as only one Charger reached base on a throwing error.  Cameron Mehl had a RBI single to tie the game in the 5th and Wilson scored the go ahead run on a wild pitch in the 6th.
Friday's game 2 was full of offense as both teams totaled 20 runs on 21 hits. The Panthers were led on offense by Brad Debo (2-4, 2 R, RBI), Chandler Compton 2-4 3 RBI, Ryan Puckett 1-3 2 RBI, and Cole Campanile 1-3 3B RBI.  Derek Lindaman, Landon Riley and Eli Haithcock pitched for the Panthers.
Orange is now 14-4 and 7-1 in the Big 8 Coneference.

Orange 4    Chapel Hill 3
 Junior Derek Lindaman pitched 6 innings, striking out 5, as the Panthers topped the Tigers to split the season series.  SR Landon Riley came in to pitch the 7th inning to earn the save.  Bryse Wilson knocked in the GWRBI in the 6th inning with a bases loaded single.  Cameron Mehl had 3 hits and a RBI.  Jason Slaughter had 2 hits and a RBI.  The Panthers are 5-1 in the Big 8 Conference standings and 12-4 overall. 

Panthers Downed 1-0 in Mid-week Game vs. Holly Springs
Sophomore Brian Werden pitched 4 good innings against the Golden Hawks but Orange was unable to push any runs across the plate.  Jr. Dylan Hall led the Panthers with 2 hits. 

Chapel Hill 3    Orange 2
 The Orange Panthers dropped their first Big 8 conference game to Chapel Hill Tuesday night.  Bryse Wilson (4-2) started for Orange allowing 2 earned runs on 5 hits and striking-out 11.  Cameron Mehl and Chandler Compton had RBI singles to account for the two Orange runs.  The Panthers have a non-conference game with Holly Springs on Wednesday before taking on the Tigers again on Friday.

Panthers Go 1-2 in the Hilltop Tournament
The varsity baseball team lost a close game 3-2 to First Colonial High School in round 1 of the tournament.  First Colonial, a 6A team from Virginia Beach VA, capitalized on two Orange miscues for two late runs.  In round 2 Orange defeated Asheville Erwin 6-4.  Kernersville Glenn defeated the Panthers in 8-2 on Saturday, day 3.

Orange 13   Southern Durham 0
The Panthers played solid defense and had a solid pitching performance from Brian Werden (2-0) to improve to 9-0 and 3-0 in the Big 8 Conference. Cole Campanile had 2 doubles and a RBI.  Brad Debo went 2-3 with a 2B and 2 RBI.  Cameron Mehl and Jaydin Poteat each went 1-2 with 2 RBI. 

Orange with Big Win Over Northern Vance
The Panthers went up early on the Northern Vance 3-0 but Vikings fought back to tie the score in the sixith inning.  The Panthers scored two runs in the bottom on the 6th to go up 6-4.  Derek Lindaman pitched 5 innings but got a no-decision, allowing 3 runs on 3 hits, striking-out 8 and walking 1.  Eli Haithcock pitched the 6th and 7th innings to get win, stiking out 4.  Brad Debo had a single, double and triple to lead the offense.  Bryse Wilson, Chandler Compton and Jaydin Poteat had 2 hits each.  Compton, Debo, Wilson, Cole Campanile and Cameron Mehl had RBI.  The Panthers move to 7-0 and 2-0 in the Big 8 Conference.

Orange 3     Garner 1
The Panthers defeated the Garner Trojans 3-1 on Wednesday in a non-conference match-up.  Sophomore Brian Werden pitched 4 innings to pick up his first varsity win.  Nick Sutton gave Orange two innings holding Garner scoreless.  Jamiel Jordan pitched the top of the 7th for his first save.  Chandler Compton belted out 2 hits and Jason Slaughter knocked in two crucial runs for the Panthers.

Wilson Tosses No-Hitter
Bryse Wilson had a 11 strike-out, no-hit performance Tuesday at Northern Vance.  Orange jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on a 2-run homer by Brad Debo in the first inning.  That's all Wilson would need as he a escaped a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the first.  He found a groove and kept the Vikings at bay for the next 6 innings. Cameron Mehl also added an RBI single to help the Panthers.  Orange improved to 5-0 and 1-0 in the Big 8 Conference.

Panthers Survive Cavalier Comeback 12-10
On Saturday the Orange baseball team jumped out to a 10-0 lead at Southern Lee in Sanford. Each team banged out 14 hits as the Panthers held on but scoring late runs.  Derek Lindaman started for Orange and got the win and Ryan Puckett closed the game out with shutout 2 innings for his first save.  Chandler Compton was 2-4 with 2 doubles and a RBI. Cameron Mehl was 2-4 2 RBI, Jason Slaughter 2-2 2b RBI, Brad Debo 2-3, Austin Sykes 2-4 RBI and Landon Riley 1-1 RBI.

Orange 2     East Chapel Hill 0
 The varsity baseball team defeated East Chapel Hill in a tight well-pitched game on Wednesday, March 9.  The Panthers' Bryse Wilson squared off against Wildcat senior Sean Moore. Wilson took a no-hitter into the 7th inning, but lost the no-hit bid on an infield single.  Wilson struckout 12.  Austin Sykes had a key RBI double for Orange. 

Panthers Rally for a 11-9 Win at Northern Durham
Down 9-3 going into the 6th inning, Orange scored 5 runs in the 6th and 3 runs in the 7th to complete a comeback against a very good Northern Knights team. Northern homered 3 times against the Panthers including a grand slam in the 3rd. Ryan Puckett recorded the final 6 outs to pick up his first career varsity win on the mound. Cameron Mehl led the Panther offense going 3-5 with 2 RBI.  Chandler Compton sparked the rally with a hit and 2 key RBI in the late innings. The Panthers improve to 2-0.  Orange will be at home Wednesday March 9 vs. East Chapel Hill at 5:00.
JV Baseball defeats Northern 7-3 

Panthers 5    Leesville Rd. 1
The Orange baseball team won its' season opener Wednesday over The Pride.  Bryse Wison pitched 6 solid innings for the win, allowing 3 hits and striking out 8.  Eli Haithcock came on the pitch a scoreless 7th for the Panthers. Offensively Orange was led by Wilson, Brad Debo and Cameron Mehl who each had 2 hits on the day.  Debo had a double and a homerun while collecting 2 RBI.  The Panthers travel to Northern Durham on Friday to take on the Knights at 5:00.

2016 Orange Varsity Baseball Schedule Released
The Panthers' baseball team will face a formidable schedule this upcoming season. The Big 8 Conference will be challenging with Northwood, Cedar Ridge, Chapel Hill, Webb, Northern Vance and Southern Durham. Once again the Big 8 will play back-to-back series games each week.  The non-conference schedule will include 4A powers Holly Springs, Leesville Road, Garner, Cardinal Gibbons, Northern Durham, East Chapel Hill.  The Panthers will also travel to Southern Lee for a Varsity/Junior Varsity doubleheader on Saturday March 12.  Orange will also co-host the Hilltop Tournament this year with 18 teams participating.  " I thought we played a good schedule last year, but this schedule is as tough as I can remember. It should prepare us for the post-season. We will face very good teams with quality pitching and offense." says Coach Dease. 

Panthers Fall in Fourth Round
Lee County held the Panthers to one run on 8 hits for a 2-1 victory in round four of the NCHSAA state playoffs.  James Cunningham (6-1) gave up only one earned run, pitching 7 seven innings, and suffering his first loss of the the season.  The Panthers finished the season with a 22-5 record and their third straight conference championship.

Round 3      Orange 2     Terry Sanford 1
The Orange High baseball team traveled to Fayetteville to take on Terry Sanford HS on Tuesday.  The Panthers prevailed in 8 innings with a comeback win.  Bryse Wilson went the distance allowing just 2 hits and striking out 10. Terry Sanford took a 1-0 lead on two doubles in the 4th inning. The Panthers tied the game in the 6th on lead-off hit by Eric Compton, a hit-by-pitch by Cole Campanile, a sac-bunt by Cameron Mehl and a sac fly by Brad Debo. In the top of the 8th Orange finally took the lead when Johnny Flynn reached on an error, and Chandler Compton sacrificed Flynn to second. Cameron Mehl hit one down the line off the third-baseman to score Flynn.  Wilson pitched a 1-2-3 bottom half, striking out the las t two batters.
Orange will host Lee County Friday night at 7:00 in Round 4 

Panthers Top Pirates 5-4 in 11 Innings
Almost 3 1/2 hours and 11 innings later the Orange High baseball team left Cornith Holders with a 5-4 victory.  It was an intense, emotional game with many momentum swings. James Cunningham started on the mound for the Panthers and pitched 7 innings, striking out 6.  Cunningham left with the scored tied and Landon Riley took over for the next 4 innings earning the win.  The Pirates went ahead 2-0 in the 4th.  The Panthers answered back in the 5th on 3-run homerun by Brad Debo.  Orange added a run in the 6th when Eli Lockwood scored on an error.  The Pirates scored two in the bottom of the 7th to tie.  In the top of the 11th Johnny Flynn singled to lead off the inning.  Chandler Compton sac bunted Flynn to second.  Cameron Mehl singled to centerfield to score Flynn with the go ahead run.  Riley then pitched a 1-2-3 bottom to send the Panthers to Round 3 of the playoffs. 

Orange Wins 1st Round Game Over Triton
Bryse Wilson pitched a complete game shutout, striking out 6, for his eight win of the season.  Braden Weber put the Panthers on the board first with a bases loaded triple in the third inning.  Brad Debo added a 2-run homer in the fifth for the 5-0 margin.  Orange will travel to Corinth Holders on Saturday.  Game time 7:00

Gibbons take No. 1 Seed from Big 8 with 7-5 Win over Panthers

Panthers 4    Red Wolves 1
Bryse Wilson pitched a complete game and struckout 8 to improve to 7-2.  With a victory Orange clinched a share of the Big 8 Conference championship with Cardinal Gibbons.  Bredan Weber had a 2 RBI double in the 1st inning that proved to be the difference in a pitchers' duel.  Cody Evans an insurance run advancing home on a wild pitch.
The Panthers finish the regular season 19-3 and 13-1 in the Big 8 Conference. 

Panthers Take Down Cedar Ridge 10-0
James Cunningham pitched a 6-inning complete game allowing only 1 hit and strikingout 4.  Cunningham improved to 6-0.  Cameron Mehl went 3-4.  Bryse Wilson and Eric Compton each had 3 RBI.  Eli Lockwood was 2-3.  

Panthers 18    Warriors 0
The Orange baseball team scored 18 runs on 16 hits is Saturday's win over Webb. Alex Lozano struckout 4 in 3 innings to earn the win.  Braden Weber hit 2 homeruns and had 6 RBI on the day.  Bryse Wilson, Chandler Compton and Eli Lockwood had mulitple hits.  Brad Debo, Cole Campanile and Wilson each drove in 2 runs.  The Panthers improved to 17-3, 11-1 in the Big 8.

Orange Wins 7-0 at Webb
Bryse Wilson hurled a complete game shutout and struck-out 14 Warriors in Oxford.  Wilson also helped his own cause by belting 2 solo homeruns.  Eric Compton went 3-3 on the day.  Cameron Mehl, Braden Weber, Austin Skyes and Ryan Puckett drove in runs.  Orange will take on Heritage in non-conference action on Wednesday and take on Webb again on Friday.  both games are at Orange.

Orange Earns Big Win at Northwood 8-2
James Cunningham pitched a complete game to improve to 5-0 on the year.  Cunningham allowed 2 runs on 5 hits and struckout six. Garrett Cloer was 3-4 with one RBI. Braden Weber and Eli Lockwood were 2-4. Weber knocked in two and Lockwoood had 1 RBI.  Chandler Compton was 1-2 with 2 RBI.  Bryse Wilson and Cameron Mehl also had RBI hits.  The Panthers remain tied for first in the Big 8 with a 9-1 record.

Orange Knocks Off Northwood 10-0
Bryse Wilson struck-out 7 and gave up only 1 hit in 5 innings as Orange took a big conference game against the Chargers.  Austin Sykes hit a 2-run homer in the first inning as Orange put 4 runs on the board early.  Garrett Cloer was 3-3 on the evening.  Brad Debo and Eli Lockwood had 2 hits each. Braden Weber and Wilson had 2 RBI each.  Orange improves to 13-3 and 8-1 in the Big 8.  The Panthers are at Northwood Friday.

Panther Win 1-0 at Northern Vance
Derek Lindaman (2-0) pitched 6 solid innings allowing only 3 hits. Landon Riley earned his 3rd saved finishing the game.  Brad Debo knocked in Garrett Cloer for the winning run.

Panthers Fight Tigers to the Finish
The Orange baseball team took a 10-4 lead to the bottom of the 7th inning and hung on for a 10-8 win.  James Cunningham improved to 4-0 with 6 innings pitched allowing 4 runs on 10 hits.  Landon Riley came into the game in the 7th to earn a save.  Brad Debo had 2 hits and knocked in 3 runs.  Garrett Cloer and Braden Weber also had 2 hits.  Chandler Compton was 1-3 with 2 RBI.  Bryse Wilson hit a 2-run homer to give the Panthers a lead in the 1st inning.  The Panthers improved to 6-1 in the Big 8 and 11-3 overall.

Orange 3      Chapel Hill 0
Big 8 and county rivals Orange and Chapel Hill hooked up Tuesday evening and the Panthers prevailed 3-0.  Bryse Wilson pitched a complete game shutout to improve to 4-2 on the season.  Wilson allowed 4 hits, struckout 8 and walked only one. Wilson also helped his own cause with a solo homerun in the 6th inning.  Braden Weber also hit a solo homer in the 4th.  Wilson and Weber were 2-3.  Cameron Mehl and Eli Lockwood went 2-2.  Chandler Compton scored the Panthers' first run in the 3rd when Compton led off the inning with a single.  Mehl bunted him to second.  Compton moved to third on a Garrett Cloer groundout to the right side and scored on a wild pitch.  Orange is 10-3 and 5-1 in the Big 8.

Panthers Take Two from Southern Durham
Orange defeated the Spartans last Thursday and Friday 25-2 and 8-4.  Derek Lindaman erned his first varsity win pitching 3 innings in the 5-inning game 1.  James Cunningham improved to 3-0 on the season pitching 6 innings on Friday allowing no runs. Brad Debo, Garrett Cloer, Jamiel Jordan, Johnny Flynn, Landon Riley and Joey Ricca all had multiple hits in game one.  Johnny Flynn and Eli Lockwood had multiple hits in game 2.  The Panthers improved to 9-3 and 4-1 in the Big 8.

Gibbons Downs Panthers 3-1
Cardinal Gibbons avenged an early season loss to Orange, dropping the Panthers to 2-1 in the Big 8 Conference.  Gibbons pitcher Brian Nelson held Orange to 4 hits.  Alex Lozano had a solo homerun for the only Panther run.  Orange is now 7-3 overall.

Panthers Go 2-1 in Hilltop Invitational
The 12th Annual Hilltop Tournament was held April 2, 3 and 4.  Orange hosted 6 of the 21 games in the tournament. On Thursday the Panthers played Topsail, the defending 3A State Champions. In the pitchers' duel Topsail prevailed 3-1.  Bryse Wilson took the mound opposite Topsail ace Clark Cota and neither pitcher disappointed. Wilson struck-out 8, while Cota struck-out 10 as at least 10 professional scouts watched this match-up.  On Friday the Panther offense got back on track with an 11-4 win over Tallmadge Ohio.  Orange got key hits and RBI by Garrett Cloer, Brad Debo, Braden Weber and Austin Sykes.  James Cunningham (2-0) pitched 4-plus innings for the win.  Saturday's game with West Forsyth was a come from behind victory as the Panthers went down 6-0 early but battled back for a 12-9 win.  Garrett Cloer had a 3-run homerun.  Braden Weber and Eric Compton had multiple hits and multiple RBI.  Eli Lockwood also drove in 2 runs.  Alex Lozano earned the win in relief and Landon Riley got his 2nd save on the season.  Miles Acosta also pitched 3 strong innings in relief.  The Panthers are 7-2 on the season.

Orange 6    Cardinal Gibbons 2
Cardinal Gibbons took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning on a hit batter, two singles and a steal of home.  That was the last run to cross the plate as Bryse Wilson would scatter 3 hits over the next 6 innings.  Wilson improved to 3-0 notching 10 strikeouts and allowing only on walk.  The Panthers answered in the second inning with 4 runs on a walk and 4 hits.  Wilson would deliver a big 2-out single to drive in two runs.  Garrett Cloer, who was 2-3, also knocked in a run in the second.  Pinch runner Cody Evans scored in the 5th on a wild pitch.  In the sixth inning Brad Debo singled and courtesy runner Joey Ricca scored on an Austin Sykes single.  Chandler Compton was 2-4 for the Panthers.  Orange improved to 5-1 and 2-0 in the Big 8.

Panthers Rally to Win in Extra Innings
The Orange baseball team defeated East Chapel Hill with a dramatic comeback in the eight inning. The Panthers scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th innning to tie the game at 5-5.  In the bottom of the 8th Eli Lockwood reached on an error and advanced to second when the throw went into the Panther dugout.  Landon Riley put down a sacrifice which was misplayed allowed Lockwood to score the winning run.  Miles Acosta earned the win pitching in relief.  Brad Debo homered to bring the Panthers within striking distance and Bryse Wilson knocked in the tying run.  Orange improves to 4-1.
JV Panthers Knock off East Chapel Hill 8-6

The Panthers won their Big 8 conference opener over a young, scrappy Northern Vance team Tuesday afternoon. Bryse Wilson took the mound for his second start of the year. Wilson pitched 6 innings allowing 3 hits and striking out 13. Landon Riley pitched the seventh working his way out of a jam with 3 strikeouts. The Panthers took a 3-0 lead in the first inning as Austin Sykes drove two runs with a single to leftfield. Chandler Compton double in a run in the fifth. Orange moves to 3-1 and 1-0 in the Big 8.

Holly Springs 6     Orange 4
The Panthers traveled to Holly Springs to take on the Golden Hawks.  Orange battled back form an early 6-1 deficit with a 3-run homer by Bryse Wilson.  Brad Debo knocked in the Panther run.  The Panthers had two runners on in the top of the 7th and the go-ahead run at the plate but could not capitalize.  Orange falls to 2-1 and Holly Springs is now 2-1.

Panthers Come Out Fighting, Off to a 2-0 Start
The varsity baseball team defeated Northern Durham Monday 5-0 and Riverside on Tuesday 6-4.
After a two week delay due to winter weather, baseball season has finally begun for Orange High School. Bryse Wilson took the mound for the Panthers against Northern and pitched 5 innings, striking out 6 for the win. Austin Sykes powered the Orange offense with a 3-run homer. Brad Debo and Braden Weber also knocked in runs for the Panthers. On Tuesday James Cunningham earned the victory allowing only one hit in 4 1/3 innings.  Alex Lozano pitched 1 2/3 innings and Landon Riley pitched the 7th inning for his first save.  Offensively Austin Sykes delivered another blow with a 3-run homer in the first inning. Brad Debo drove in 2 runs. Cameron Mehl was 2-3 in the game.

Snow and Ice Strikes Out Baseball Practice
Two weeks of early season tryouts and practices have been lost to recent winter storms in the Triangle Area.  After the first day of practice, the Panthers have been shut down by the weather. Schools have been closed for nearly two weeks after sleet and ice hit North Carolina followed by seven inches of snow in Orange County.  The Panthers hope to get back on track this week.  Two scrimmages have been cancelled and the first game with Heritage HS has been moved to April 15.

First Pitch Dinner February 7th
The Orange Baseball Dugout Club will host the annual benefit fund-raiser for the baseball program at Orange High School on Saturday February 7th.  Doors open at 5:00 for bidding on silent auction items. A dinner consisting of pork tenderloin, baked potato and salad will be served at 6:00 in our cafeteria.  At 7:00 our program and guest speaker will begin in the auditorium.  This year's speaker will be Billy Godwin who is a Major League scout for the New York Yankees.  In addition to auction items there will also be a raffle and door prizes.

2015 Hilltop Invitational Tournament Bracket Now Posted
The Panthers will take on Topsail, Tallmadge Ohio and West Forsyth 

Panthers Split Series with East Chapel Hill 5-2, 4-5
Orange (4-1) won the compleion of a suspended game 5-2 in 8 innings at East Chapel Hill.  In the second game Friday the Panthers could not overcome fielding mistakes to  defeat the Wildcats.  East capitalized to score 5 runs in their win.


Chris Maples makes a tag play at first.  "Bench" Coaches Doug Hargrave and George Braxton.  Brett Braxton throws "Ched".
