2010 Panthers' Schedule Posted

Orange Panthers will face a difficult and challenging schedule as the team moves into the 3A ranks.  At least eleven of the Panthers opponents went to the state playoffs in 2009.  East Chapel Hill, Jordan, Graham, South Granville, Person and cross-town rival Cedar Ridge highlight the non-conference slate.  The Panthers will play traditional power D. H. Conley of Greenville in the Impact Tournament in Cary, NC.  Orange will also co-host the 2010 Hilltop Invitational April 1-3 with some of the top teams in the state scheduled to appear.

In the new Carolina 3A Conference Orange will renew several old match-ups from the Panthers' days in the 4A ranks.  Orange, Chapel Hill, Southern Vance, Northern Vance and J. F. Webb were all part of the PAC-6 Conference at one time.  Private school power Cardinal Gibbons will also move to the new 3A league with the Panthers.

Hilltop Invitational Tournament Field Is Set at Sixteen

The 2010 Hilltop expands from 12 to 16 teams.

Orange, East Chapel Hill, Chapel Hill and Cedar Ridge will cohost the event on April 1, 2 and 3.

Other teams include:  South Granville, JF Webb, Carrboro, Jordan,

Archbishop Curley (MD), East Forsyth, Kernersville Glenn, Grimsley,

Southern Alamance, Southwest Guilford, Surry Central and Green Hope

New Lights Are Up and Running

The new lighting systems on the baseball and softball fields have passed inspection and testing.  Everything will be in place for a brighter playing fields.  The old lights on the baseball filed had been up for over 30 years.  The baseball field has 6 new metal poles in place to replace the old wooden poles and the softball field has 4 new poles.  The Panthers look forward to playing under the lights this spring.

Baseball Field Under Renovations

The Orange High baseball field is having a major facelift.  Actually the infield surface is being redone.  The field will be regraded and resodded in early September.
